Our leaders have all given up;
they say that hope is gone
for man-made methods to snuff out
what man himself has brought about.
And yet, we must keep on.
And yet, we must keep on; persist;
no effort is in vain.
I'll beat the drum; you ring the bells.
An interfaithful chorus swells
to pray as one for rain.

No battle too big to conquer,
No enemy too horrendous to bring down –
And like in that final battle,
You’ve been taking arrows left, right, center
And everywhere in between…
But no samurai without honour will take your head,
Because you are my Sam with a survival plan.
You’re the friend who held my sobbing form
After I drew my ‘first blood’ in a fight.
Comforting the broken angel
Whose light brought darkness when tarnished,
But was quickly re-illuminated by your care,
By your concern and your kindness.

You’ve been a rock, a star, a gem,
A precious and dear friend.
But once again my words have hurt –
I automatically hit ‘send’
Without filtering through emotions,
Filtering thoughts or deeds.
I let my situation blind me,
And became oblivious to your needs.
Truth be told, I’m nervous,
Scared I’ll say something that’s wrong.
So instead I keep my mouth shut,
And time ticks slowly on.
So let me take this moment,
To lay things on the line.
Without you I’d be nothing,
Nowhere, and running out of time.
