Literature Text

The dragons are coming.

Each tiny sound echoed through her mind;
The clatters like chattering birds waiting for food.

The dragons.

Shadows darting across the walls
       Light catching their gaping maws,
              Eyes glinting with ravenous fervour.

They're here.

She pulled at her skin, trying to rid herself of their scales!
The cold, sharp scales that revealed the fire she'd worked to dampen.

The dragons are home.

They never left.
Flashlit prompted by WolvenNight "Dragon".

whoa, this is chilling...the imagery is spot on...love the way you built this poem up...your sense of rythym is amazing! The way you arranged the text is perfect. Such a strong poem.
