Literature Text

Dear Brother I can barely speak,
Each word is frozen on my tongue,
My breath grows forced, my body’s weak
And though I am no longer young
I feel the loss of many years
Where stress has stolen treasured times
And values fell away from sight
To be replaced by daily fears,
Yet I blame no one for this crime
That let me cast my face from light.

Dear Brother I can barely see,
Your image dims before my eyes,
I seek my long lost memories
To live the pictures I’m denied
Yet blurry smudges but remain
To taunt this broken desp’rate man,
So lost yet glaringly aware
This world considered me arcane
Before I baffled doctor’s plans!
And took more time than my fair share.

Dear Brother, I can feel the end,
The cold is clutching at my soul,
I’ll see Jenny soon, my friend,
And finally my arms will hold
Her gentle spirit close to me
As though she beat a quick retreat,
She lived far more than I have done,
She greeted life so gracefully,
And as I grip these ghostly sheets,
I leave to where I once begun.
This took me a bit but I am happy with the result :).

This is for
ProjectDFC's December Form Challenge.

This is Day 6: The Horatian Ode. This also had the prompt "Brethren"

An ode is a lyrical verse and its name comes from the Greek aeidein, which means to sing or chant.
An ode is typically written in praise of, or as a dedication, to someone or something that captures the poet's interest
or is an inspiration for their ode. The Horatian ode is the creation of the Roman poet, Horace.

There are a few different lengths and rhyme schemes with this form but for our purposes,
we will use the 10-line stanzas with the rhyme scheme ababcdecde.

Meter is iambic tetrameter or pentameter. Minimum length is one stanza, there
is no maximum.

Go to this thumb ->  DFC 2014 IS HERE!Every single year I say that I will get this organised way earlier, and every year I spent 2 or more days raging at a screen.
But it is so rewarding to see you all do this and it's those feelings are always very short-lived so I keep doing it year after year.
This year featuring 31 forms that I haven't featured before. I went hunting for forms and had a lot of fun.
WHO'S READY FOR MORE DFC? I KNOW I AM!
:bulletblue: Please check out The DFC Form Chart 2014.   All of the days are outlined with forms and prompts and explanations for each.

:bulletblue: If you can’t access the pdf, please don’t hesitate to note me (kiwi-damnation) with your email address and I will send a word version to you.
:bulletblue: All entries (that we know about) will be getting collected and placed into our designated
. And then check out ->DFC 2014 Form Chart by kiwi-damnation.

Very captivating, it's absolutely beautiful. I love how you know what's going on, without actually saying it, that is something that I would love to do and perfect.
